European Medical Center (EMC) has become the first recipient of the highest-level International Quality Certificates Issuing Services LLC (ICI) certification. An international team of auditors analyzed the quality of medical services and their compliance with international standards. The experts paid special attention to doctor-patient interactions.
International Quality Certificates Issuing Services LLC specializes in certifying quality management systems, products, and services according to international standards.
ICI certification includes three levels - GREEN, SILVER, and GOLD. Following the audit, European Medical Center (EMC) was awarded the highest rating.
Patient-centeredness is a factor often overlooked in audits. For example, it is absent in the globally recognized ISO 9001 quality management standard. In this case, the audit was based on ICI's unique evaluation system and results from anonymous patient surveys.
The ICI commission conducted the audit based on eight fundamental criteria:

Timely and continuous information to patients and their relatives about health status and treatment process;

Level of patient involvement in decision-making, attention to their needs and wishes;

Opportunity for family involvement in treatment and rehabilitation;

Effective coordination of actions to improve patient morale;

Accessibility and completeness of post-discharge treatment information;

Comfort;

Level of emotional support.
European Medical Center received the highest scores across all criteria and became the first private medical organization in Russia to not only successfully pass an international audit of patient-centered approach but also receive ICI accreditation at the highest GOLD level.
