European Medical Center (EMC) and Skolkovo resident IRA LABS, an AI algorithm developer, announce their collaboration to integrate an artificial intelligence system for multi-purpose CT scan analysis. The partnership aims to improve healthcare quality, speed of service delivery, and economic efficiency in medical practice.
Egor Safrygin, EMC's Digital Transformation Director: "Several years ago, we established a 'Digital Sandbox' principle and startup incubator for various maturity-level projects that could address both operational efficiency and implementation of new scientific medical technologies. Only through collaboration between science, technology, and real clinical practice can we create products valuable to medical organizations. The retrospective approach used in our pilot project with IRA LABS revealed enormous potential for both the clinic and scaling EMC's patient-centric service model.
For the first time, AI implementation for imaging goes beyond just impacting the radiology department. The key advantage of the algorithm is that clinic physicians receive AI-generated personalized recommendations based on current clinical guidelines, capable of improving healthcare quality. Patient lists are verified by radiologists, and when justified, referrals are created directly in the medical information system (MIS) to relevant specialists for additional diagnostics or consultation. This is unprecedented. We and IRA LABS are pioneers in this technological approach."
After full implementation, AI results will be integrated simultaneously into both the image viewing system and MIS as smart protocols. This will help create a personalized approach for each patient with seamless IT integration to improve healthcare quality.
IRA LABS algorithms automatically analyze CT data and provide doctors with both pathology detection and quantitative measurements, as well as smart medical report protocols including recommendations for additional examinations and/or specialist consultations that can influence patient management strategies. These smart protocols are based on current clinical guidelines and help doctors make informed decisions.
IRA LABS holds first place globally in the number of simultaneously evaluated pathologies for CT scans, including findings in cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, skeletal, endocrine, and digestive systems, and maintains leading positions in clinical evaluation within Moscow's largest experiment on AI application in medicine.
Victor Gombolevsky, IRA LABS Development Director, PhD: "EMC is a dynamically developing clinic and one of the technological leaders in implementing innovative solutions in private medicine, ready for new technologies adoption.
We are pleased with this important partnership and aim for strategic cooperation. Beyond using AI algorithms solely as radiologist assistance in pathology visualization, we plan to test new strategies for AI-medical organization interaction to improve patient care quality."
This collaboration opens new horizons in medical diagnostics and treatment, providing doctors with modern tools for more effective work and preventive emphasis on improving patient health.
