27 years of experience in neurosurgery.

In 2007, he successfully defended his thesis on the topic of "Diagnostics and surgical treatment of degenerative compression syndromes at the cervical level of vertebral column"? and was awarded the Habilitation degree in Medicine.

Since 2011 - Head of the Neurosurgical Department of the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution "Scientific Center of Neurology".

Under the supervision of Gushcha A.O., 5 PhD thesis were defended, and 4 more are scheduled for defense.

Prof. Gushcha is a Deputy editor-in-chief of Spine Surgery journal; he is a member of the editorial board of the “N.N. Burdenko Journal of Neurosurgical Problems" and of "Professor A.L. Polenov Russian Neurosurgical Journal."

He ia an Awardee of the RF Government Prize in the field of science and technology (Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 230-r, dd. February 20, 2014). Title of work: Development and implementation of minimally invasive neurosurgery methods set for spinal cord and spine diseases and injuries in clinical practice.

He is an Awardee of the Prize "Vocation" to the Best Doctors of Russia in 2012.

Prof. Gushcha is an author of more than 150 scientific works, monographs and manuals.
