About clinic

Many diagnoses are determined based on the results of radiology studies. Therefore, a radiology department with advanced equipment and experienced doctors should be an integral part of any multi-disciplinary clinic. The Radiology Department at the European Medical Center is a modern multi-functional department with an entire spectrum of diagnostic capabilities.
Radiation diagnostic services at EMC:
  • The most modern equipment: CT (128-256 slice) and MRI (1.5 Tesla 4G; 3 Tesla 4G) scanners from Philips, Siemens.
  • A modern system of image storage and transmission (PACS: a picture archiving and communications system). All studies are kept for at least 5 years in electronic form and available online
  • Different versions of the study results are available: images of the study on CD/DVD, printed images on film, a link to the images by e-mail
  • Studies are conducted by highly qualified medical staff, administrative staff (who speak English, German, French) help coordinate the patient's clinic visit
  • Ability to conduct the study under sedation or general anesthesia, if necessary (including for children as young as 2 years of age)
  • Teleconsultation with clinics in the US and Europe
  • Comfortable stay at EMC
  • The department works around the clock, allowing patients to carry out any number of studies (MRI, CT, ultrasound, x-ray) at any time
  • Various methods of payment: cash, credit cards, Russian and foreign insurance companies.

Thedepartment performsthe following diagnostic studies:
  • X-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Digital mammography with tomosynthesis
  • Cone-beam computed tomography
  • Multispiral CT with and without contrast
  • MRI with and without contrast
  • Diffusion-weighted MRI
  • SPECT/CT
  • PET/CT

The clinic also performs precision studies aimed at the early detection of diseases, which occur without clinical symptoms. This so-called screening reveals dangerous diseases (primarily cancer) in its early stages and greatly improves the prognosis for the patient. Screening studies are performed using special low-dose regimes, which allow the study to provide the necessary information without exposing the patient to excessive radiation.
Subdivisions of the Radiation Department are located in all EMC clinics: Shepkina Street, Spiridonevsky Periulok, Orlovsky Periulok and the Children's Clinic on Trifonovsky Street, which allows us to provide diagnoses to patients as quickly as possible.
Advantagesof the radiationdepartment at EMC
The clinic is equipped with modern equipment, allowing us to obtain images of the highest possible quality with minimal to no radiation exposure:
CT scanners (128 and 256-slice machines), which use the latest systems (iDose7) to reduce radiation exposure;
MRI scanners (1.5 Tesla 4G) with an Open Bore (very large aperture of 70 cm) from Siemens;
Our equipment allows us to perform studies, on people suffering from claustrophobia, on patients with weights of up to 227 kg, and on patients with dental implants.
The department also has special accommodations for children: as it is difficult for them to remain still for the time necessary to complete a study, it is possible to quickly and safely perform a study under sedation or with sleep medication (for children of any age). This allows the study images to retain their high quality.

Modern data processing systems

The clinic is equipped with PACS (a picture archiving and communications system): the most modern image processing and analyzing system. The system allows imaging results to be stored and physicians have 24-hour access to the data from anywhere in the world. Patients do not need to bring their images to every clinic visit. Thanks to PACS, specialists send the patient to the Radiation Department and can see the results of the study and formulate an opinion. PACS allows patients to be provided with the results of their studies, not only in the form of printed images, but also in digital form, on a disc or as a link via e-mail for remote access from anywhere in the world, which is very useful when planning treatment abroad.
Images taken in other medical institutions and brought by patients on disks can also be imported into PACS for comparison and to monitor the dynamics of the disease.  Each patient has a digital medical history, guaranteeing data retention and instant sharing of results between EMC physicians. EMC's diagnostic imaging department operates by European and American protocols, which means patients can be confident their images will be accepted at any foreign clinic;

The possibility of obtaining a second opinion

All department physicians have narrow specializations (musculoskeletal radiology, pediatrics, cardiovascular, thoracic, abdominal radiology, oncology, neuroradiology, breasts, radionuclide diagnostics [PET, SPECT], gynecology or urology). If the results of the study are provided to the doctor, who is at that time on duty, then more narrow specialists also look at the images and share their opinion, providing a so-called "second opinion." Doctors and professors working in the radiology department may also give their expert evaluations of the results.
In this way, two radiologists perform analysis of the results, which reduces the probability of random error. A council of physicians meets for difficult cases, and in particularly complex cases, teleconferences are held with physicians from clinics in Israel, Europe, and the United States;

Highly professional specialists

The staff continuously undergoes training in Russia, Europe, the United States and Israel. Department physicians are fluent in foreign languages (English, French and German) and have experience working in leading hospitals in Europe, the US and Israel. They are members of many professional societies, such as the European Society of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and others. In addition, doctors in the Radiology Department conduct educational programs through EMC's Medical School, a training center at EMC.

Patient comfort

Our department pays special attention to the patient's comfort. Patients are explained the nuances of the procedure ahead of time. There are individual rooms to prepare for the study, and the calm and relaxing atmosphere improves the patient's mental attitude prior to the study, which reduces the risk of complications. Studies are scheduled, so there is no waiting.
For children, we have provided a play area for before or after the procedure. During the study, the child may hold a parent's hand or hold a favorite toy without the quality of the images being affected.

Round-the-clock care

The department of diagnostic imaging at the European Medical Center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Timely diagnostic procedures are often vitally important in situations such as injury or suspected stroke. The need for a qualified urgent diagnosis can happen at any time. Specialists in the Radiation Department at the European Medical Center work around-the-clock at your disposal.
