In 1997, he was retrained in radiation therapy.
In 1976, he graduated from the Military Medical Academy with a degree in Medical Science.
In 1981, he completed an adjunct course at the same Academy and defended his PhD thesis on " Clinic, diagnosis and treatment of non-clostridial anaerobic infections." After defending his dissertation, he worked at the same Academy in various medical and teaching positions. His doctoral dissertation was defended in 1994 on the topic "Treatment of patients in the early period of surgical infection".
He worked as a senior and then leading researcher in the academic research group of Academician A. S. Pavlov of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and at the Department of Clinical Radiology of the Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Postgraduate Education (RMANPO). Currently, he is a professor at the Department of Radiotherapy and Radiology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

radiobiology,
radiation treatment of malignant tumors of the head and neck, lungs, and lymphomas,
infectious complications in radiation therapy,
modification of the body's response to radiation.
