Makarov Viktor

Since 1999 he has been working in the ophthalmology division of the pediatric department at RSMU, first as a department assistant, then as a senior research fellow. Since 2014 he has been an associate professor. For 15 years he has worked as a surgeon in the eye microsurgery department at the Morozovskaya Children’s Clinical Hospital. Dr. Makarov is well-versed in all modern diagnostic techniques and methods for conservative and surgical treatment of ocular abnormalities in children and adults. Since 2005, he has been an instructor in the Physician Advancement Department (FAD) at RSMU.

Surgical and conservative treatment of various forms of strabismus in children; congenital and acquired abnormalities of the eyelids (ptosis and neoplasms); deformities of the lacrimal organs (dacryocystitis in newborns, stenosis, atresia and post-traumatic damage of the lacrimal ducts); laser and conservative methods of treating ocular abnormalities of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye (the optic nerve, secondary retinal dystrophies, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration of the retina, retinal vein occlusion, secondary cataract, glaucoma, etc.); inflammatory diseases and eye injuries; diagnosis and correction of refractive anomalies; diagnosis and treatment of retinopathy in prematurely born children.

Victor Makarov is the organizer and leader of a doctor certification course in "Laser treatment methods in ophthalmology”.

Dr. Makarov led the development of new methods for surgical laser treatment of the front and rear sections of the eyeball in children and led work to optimize the surgical treatment of strabismus, ptosis, and plastic repair of the lacrimal apparatus.

Dr. Makarov has authored two developments of new methods for treating eye diseases in children, one patent, and more than 50 scientific articles in Russian and international medical journals.
