Dr.Katkhuriya graduated from the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy, from the research and teaching staff training faculty specialised in General Medicine. She took a clinical residency and then a postgraduate course in Endocrinology at the department of endocrinology of the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy. The topic of her dissertation was Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases in Women with Diabetes Mellitus in the Peri- and Post-menopausal Stages.
Experience
Upon completion of her postgraduate degree she worked as a senior laboratory technician at the department of endocrinology of the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy and subsequently as an endocrinologist at the outpatient clinic of the Myasnikov Russian Cardiology Research and Production Complex and Pirogov City Clinical Hospital No.1.
She underwent an accreditation course specialising in Endocrinology at the department of endocrinology of the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy and also an advanced training course for endocrinologists at the department of endocrinology and diabetology of the Doctors’ Improvement Faculty. She specialised in a course of Endocrine Gynaecology and the programme Organisation and Running of Schools for Educating Patients Suffering from Obesity. She participated in seminars on clinical endocrinology (5th EFES, Postgraduate Clinical Endocrinology Course) in Denmark and Diabetes and the Heart in France. She was a participant of the 5th Russian Congress of Endocrinologists, the 5th Russian Diabetology Congress and the Russian Congress Diabetes and the Kidneys. She was also among the participants of the 6th and 7th Moscow city endocrinologist congresses. In 2010, she participated in the seminar Current Problems of Gynaecological Endocrinology and also was trained on the programme Implementing Insulin Pump Therapy and Twenty-Four-Hour Glucose Monitoring Systems in the Treatment for Various Types of Diabetes Mellitus during Pregnancy in the department of endocrinology of the Otta Research Institute for Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the North-West Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (St. Petersburg). She was a participant at a congress of the American Diabetics Association 70th Scientific Sessions (Orlando, Florida).
She underwent a period of work experience with Professor Lois Jovanovič at the Sansum Diabetes Research Institute (Santa Barbara, California).
Treatment programmes for diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, obesity, adrenalopathy, osteoporosis, care of pregnancy in patients with endocrine diseases, including pregnancy with a background of existing diabetes mellitus and gestational diabetes mellitus and care of patients on insulin pump therapy.
A total of 10 articles were published on the work and featured in the different journals. Theses of the work were presented at congresses in Russia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Poland. In 2000 she presented the report Obesity and the Menopause at a meeting of the Moscow Endocrinology Association. Reports on Hormone Replacement Therapy in Women with Endocrine Diseases and Characteristics of Peri and Post-menopause in Women with Endocrine Diseases were presented at the 2nd Moscow Endocrinology Congress in March 2000 at the 1st Russian Congress on the Menopause in 2001.
