He is an expert in laparoscopic and robot-assisted radical prostatectomies for prostate cancer, including nerve-sparing techniques that allow the patient to maintain sexual function and urinary retention after prostate removal with a high probability.
Abdullin I. I. was one of the first in Russia to introduce laparoscopic methods for the treatment of prostate cancer and to date has performed more than 600 laparoscopic robot-assisted radical prostatectomies.
The doctor also specializes in endoscopic treatment of urolithiasis and prostate adenoma. They have performed more than 1,000 operations in these areas.
Experience and education
In 2015, he was trained in Chicago and Hamburg to perform a fusion biopsy of the prostate and was the first urologist to perform a fusion biopsy of the prostate in Russia.
To date, he has performed more than 300 procedures, received a patent for a method of local anesthesia during fusion biopsy. The results of fusion biopsy implementation are presented at numerous Russian and foreign congresses, including the annual Congress of Urologists in the USA.
In 1997, he graduated from Kazan State Medical University.
In 1999, he completed his residency at the Department of Urology of the Kazan State Medical Academy. Then he completed advanced training on the topic "Ultrasound diagnostics". From 2000 to 2008 he took courses at the European School of Urology: "Urological aspects of infertility", "Urinary incontinence in women", "Laparoscopy", "Urogynecology", "Erectile dysfunction", "Oncourology". In 2004, he studied at the European School of Urology, Prague (Czech Republic).
In 2007, he defended his PhD thesis on "Ultrasound criteria and effectiveness of treatment of chronic prostatitis and erectile dysfunction".
In 2019, he completed advanced training courses in robotic surgery in Orlando (USA).
In 2010, he completed a course of laparoscopic surgery at the University of Southern California, under the supervision of Professor I. Gill.
Abdullin Iskander completed his initial training in laparoscopy in 2007 at Yale University (USA), followed by numerous internships in Germany, Italy, and Spain.
In 2009, he completed an internship in Milan (Italy) on the topic "Cryotherapy in the treatment of prostate cancer and kidney cancer" at the Urology clinic of the University of Regensburg (Germany) on the topic "Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy".
In 2017, at the International Congress on videourology, the video presentation of a doctor in robotic surgery was chosen as the best in its category.
Since January 2016, after completing a course of study at Temple University (USA) under the guidance of a leading US robotic surgeon, Professor Daniel Yeun, and receiving a certificate, I. I. Abdullin has started performing robot-assisted operations in urology.
In 2013, he became one of the founders of the Association of Young Urologists of Russia (AMUR). At the founding meeting, he was elected the first president of AMUR. The Association's activities are primarily aimed at the widespread introduction of modern diagnostic and treatment methods into everyday urological practice. Under the auspices of AMUR, 6 national congresses and more than 100 mater classes were held throughout Russia and the near abroad.
Since 2014, Dr. I. I. Abdullin has been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Young Urologists (IYUA).
