In 1986 Pavel Rudolfovich Kamchatnov has successfully defended the thesis for the PhD in Medicine on the topic of "Neurological complications of myocardial infarction in patients of a young age”. Since 1986 he was a Junior Researcher at the Second MOLSMI n. a. N.I. Pirogov in Research Laboratory of the cerebral circulation disorders. Since 1990 he worked as the teaching assistant at the department of neurology and neurosurgery of the General Medicine Faculty of the Russian State Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov. Since 1999 he was the associate professor at the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the General Medicine Faculty of the Russian State Medical University n. a N.I. Pirogov. In 2001 he was awarded the Habilitation degree in Medicine with the thesis on the topic of "Vertebral-basilar insufficiency". Since 2008 ha holds the position of the professor at the department of neurology, neurosurgery and medical genetics of the General Medicine Faculty of the Russian State Medical University n. a N.I. Pirogov. Ha is a member of the Dissertation Council at Federal State Budget Educational Institution of Higher Education «Russian State Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov». Prof. Kamchatnov is the Executive Secretary of the S.S. Korsakov Journal of Neurology and Psychiatry, a member of the Editorial Board of 10 medical journals. He is the supervisor of 5 thesises for the PhD degree in Medicine.
Experience
Professional experience in neurology since 1983. Since 2000, he is a regular expert consulting on neurology in the hospitals of the Moscow City Department of Health and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
Scope of main scientific and clinical interests:
• stroke and vascular neurology;
• dementia and neurodegenerative diseases;
• pain syndromes;
• diseases with affection of the involuntary nervous system;
• nervous system disorders in somatic diseases.
Prof. Kamchatnov is the author of more than 420 publications in Russian and international medical scientific issues - scientific works, monographs and manuals. Selected publications:
