Children's clinic
The rehabilitation department of the EMC Children's Clinic specializes in treating musculoskeletal disorders and aiming to return the little patients to a full and active life.
One of the most frequent and serious musculoskeletal conditions is scoliosis, meaning curvature of the spine. Many techniques are used to treat it, but the best method nowadays is the Katharina Schroth method, used and taught in Germany at the clinic of the same name. Doctors and rehabilitation centre instructors at the Children’s Clinic have been formally trained in the method and successfully apply it in practice.
In addition, EMC Children’s Clinic is the only rehabilitation center in Russia which treats osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare and complex disease.
In the field of trauma, doctors in the rehabilitation department treat post-trauma joint contractures and conditions occurring after spinal compression injuries.
In orthopedics, in addition to postural problems, doctors also treat varus and valgus knee and ankle deformities, flat feet, conditions following surgical interventions for hip dislocation, clubfoot, etc.
In the field of neurological pathology, our specialists have experience in treating patients with delayed motor development, central and peripheral limb paresis, and Bell’s palsy.
The fully equipped rehabilitation facilities are one of the main advantages of the department, with modern fitness equipment for children with musculoskeletal and neurological pathologies.
Among the techniques used are the Vojta Method (reflexlocomotion), PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), functional propriotraining, and many others. Various methods of respiratory training are widely used in children with pulmonary and neuromuscular diseases.
The department is ready to take in children of all ages, from the youngest to the older teenagers. At the same time, treatment is selected while taking into account the morphofunctional and psychological characteristics of each age group.
