When we created EMC clinic more than 30 years ago, we believed that we could become the leaders in the field of medical services in Russia. Then it seemed like a difficult and unrealizable dream, but years of hard work made this dream a reality.
1989
The European Medical Center (EMC) was founded in 1989 with the participation of the French company Europ Assistance to provide medical assistance to foreigners living in Moscow.
Initially, the clinic consisted of several rooms, in which foreign specialists had their appointments. The start was a great success, allowing the owners to expand their practice and invite new doctors. In 2001, a multidisciplinary clinic was established in the building of an old mansion in Spiridonyevsky lane. It enslosed an ambulatory clinic with diagnostic departments and an in-patient department. That was the first private clinic to offer patients medical care according to Western standards in Moscow and provide the highest level of service.
2004
With the new administration in 2004, there was a further expansion of clinical practice, primarily due to the widening of surgical directions, the number of surgical procedures increased several times, and an emergency and urgent care service was organized.
By this time, a unique international team of doctors from the European Medical Center had been formed and the strategy aimed at developing academic competencies, introducing high-tech methods of diagnostics and treatment was finally found.
2007
EMC ophthalmologist was the first in Russia to perform laser correction of age-related presbyopia (far-sightedness).
2008
EMC otolaryngologist was the first in Moscow to successfully conduct an operation for placement of the Vibrant Med-El auditory implant.
2009
In 2009 the new EMC building was built in Orlovsky Lane with a total area of 5000 sq.m., compromising an outpatient department, a hospital, an intensive care unit and four ultra-modern operating units, as well as a diagnostic center with computer and magnetic resonance imaging machine, mammography, and endoscopy.
The new building incorporated the Urology center, Cardiology and Neurology departments, as well as the European Clinic for Sports Traumatology and Orthopedics, the largest private orthopedic clinic in Russia.
With the opening of the modern clinic in Orlovsky Lane, the European Medical Center has become one of the largest non-governmental medical institutions in the country. Unlike most private clinics, EMC was focused not only on the almost healthy patients, but also on the providing of high-tech care for the most severe diseases. EMC was also the first in private medicine to develop oncology specialization. In 2010, the Clinic of Oncology and Hematology was established, which was the first clinic in Moscow to offer patients treatment of oncological diseases according to up-to-date European and American protocols.
2012
To further expand the capabilities of EMC, a new multidisciplinary hospital was opened at Shchepkina street in 2012 in order to provide full-cycle cancer care.
In a modern seven-storey building with an area of 15,500 sq. m. all conditions were created to provide diagnostic and therapeutic assistance according to the highest international standards. The clinic included a comfortable inpatient clinic, a modern operating unit equipped with the latest generation Da Vinci Si HD robotic system, an Intensive Care unit, Breast center, Urology clinic, Gynecological and Gynecological oncology clinic, Heart and Vascular Center, Reproductive and Prenatal medicine clinic, clinical diagnostic laboratory, outpatient unit.
